  • GCSE Student Revision Booklet

Year 11 students have been working exceptionally hard after school and at home, preparing and completing revision for the final exams in the summer.

The assemblies since the mock exams have covered the 'opportunities' that will be offered and making the most of these, which the students certainly have.

This student booklet offers practical advice to students linked to the 'Do's' and 'Don'ts' for revision, a range of revision techniques to try out and advice for the lead up, night before, morning and day of the exams.

A revision timetable outline can also be found here with instructions on how to plan and organise the time between now and the exams, setting out the exact timing for revision of students' subjects.

Preparation and organisation are key and this timetable really does help.

  • Mock Exam Success

We are committed towards ensuring that our Year 11s are able to maximise their exam potential and the Year 11 Mock Exams play an key role in supporting this drive.

It has therefore been great to see the countless examples of individual student success highlighted by the results and I would like to thank the Year 11 students for the effort towards these exams.

With the new 1-9 grading system in place, a grade 5 denotes what is nationally being considered as a 'Strong Pass'.

I would therefore like to offer a special Congratulations to the following Year 11 students who achieved a Grade 5 or above in all of their Mock Exams.

  • Year 11 on Track for Exam Success

As the mock exam season kicks off, it is great to see that Year 11 is in a very positive position.

The Year 11 reports which will now be arriving with you offer a clear indication of the likely GCSE grades that our students will achieve.

The PPG (Professionally Predicted Grade) provides a teacher's best judgement on  the grade that the students will achieve in their exam.  These grades are built on performance in lessons, attainment in assessments and the teacher's underpinning knowledge of each student's aptitude and attitude.

When considered together, the data indicates that we have a year group that is not only meeting, but is actually exceeding the expected levels of progress.  Reports also indicate a myriad of individual cases of success and the evidence of hard work and a shear determination to excel.

A big well done to all the students who have worked hard this term, I wish them the very best of luck throughout their mock exams.

    Mr Bidle

  • Year 11 Mock Exam Information

Please find attached the Mock Exam timetable that has been shared and printed for students today. Using this, students should pick out their specific exams from the list and plan their revision for the next 3 or 4 weeks, accordingly. To support the preparation for this, I also attach a blank revision timetable plan which may be of use, although there are many mobile phone apps and other approaches which are equally effective in planning revision.

The mocks offer an opportunity for students to get into good revision and exam habits, using an approach of ‘a little and often’ to revision and planning it effectively.

  • UKMT Maths Challenge Success

A very big well done to all those in Years 9, 10 and 11 who took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge 2017. Students from across these three year-groups won a total of 17 certificates at silver and bronze level, after pitting their wits against the notoriously fiendish problems in this year’s edition the famous Challenge. It was an absolute pleasure to present these awards to our gifted Key Stage 4 students, and particularly the year 9 stars of the future.
